Burn a backup of a game DVD

Now that I have a DVD burner I wanted to make a few backups.

Using DVDDecrypter, I ripped the Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD into a single .ISO and .MDS file. I didn't do anything special there, just basically did the one click that DVD Decrypter requires.

Now when I go to burn it, I plan to use Nero 6. Is there anythign special I need to do so that the disc will work ok (i.e. copy protection won't be a problem)? Do I need a different burnign program like Alcohol 120%?

Well I guess it don't matter much with UT2k4 since they removed the cd check with the patch. That reminds me, since the ISO is only 3.64gb, I'm thinking of just downloading the patch and the update pack and burning the whole thing as a data cd. That way whenever I need to reinstall UT2k4 I will be up to or nealry up to the latest version with all the goodies isntalled. I dont think that mounting the image from the CD would make it copy any slower than burning the image and running the setup from the CD (plus I couldn't package the update with it), but correct me if I'm wrong if this extra layer would slow things down.

But anyway, what about BF2? I want to make a backup DVD of that too, and I ripped it with DVD Decrypter as well. Any copy protection I need to worry about? Since the BF2 iso is only 2GB, I almost definitely want it as a data cd and mount the image, since that buggy ass game has huge patches.

DVD Decrypter is for stripping protection out of movies, not games. You could have just copied the disc in Nero.

As for BF2, try googling "mini-image".

Actually Nero won't be able to burn a very good copy if it either. You want to use Alcohol 120%, or Clone CD/DVD.

I already have them ripped to ISO with DVD Decrypter and the original disks are back at my college house. Although I'll be up there fairly soon to get them, but does that mean my images I made with DVD Decrypter are no good (no matter what I burn them with)? I didn't have Alcohol when I ripped them else I would've used that.

And yeah I already use the mini-image for playing but I'm creating backup disks with patches and everything on the discs so when I need to reinstall the games after a format I'll have the disc + any patches, and the original games can be stored away in boxes (they are in great condition so I'd like to keep them that way in case I ever sell them)

try mounting it into a virtual drive and see if it works. Farstone VirtualDrive works well. not sure if its free though.
