You pay premium price or you get cheap one and cross your finger that it will burn at 32x. The cheapo change supplier all the tiem and you can't possibly predict which brand burns at what speed.

A lot of 16x and 24x will burn at 32x. Personally, I buy whatever is cheapest because I live my life at 2x anyway.

TDK has three suppliers:

CMC Magnetics

Ritek

Taiyo Yuden

Quality depends big time depending on which batch you'd get. CMC=soft one piece cover, Ritek=crystal clear hard cover, Taiyo Yuden=two piece cover;soft cover and a screw on cap

I've used PNY and Imation 16X discs and they burn just fine at on my Plextor at the highest speed it goes, at 40X...

It hasn't burned a bad disk yet, but it is funny when I use Nero and after the disk is finished a pop-up appears to tell me that "an under-burn has occurred 162 times." Nothing wrong with the burn itself - thank god for Burn-Proof!:)

Which Plextor burner do you have? I didn't know some burner reports under run counts. My 16x doesn't.

Hey, but if you let BURN-Proof kick on 162 times, you pretty much defeats the purpose of burning at 32x or 24x since it slows it down so much.

i only use PNY and khypermedia... and i've heard certain tdk and verbatim are good as well...
i was just wondering if anyone knew of specific good cds that burn at 32x.
also.. i know of the buy.com deal.. but.. with shipping.. it pretty much sucks unless i can find another 70 bucks worth of something to get free shipping.

Go with Mitsui. They're available on eBay.

Hmmm...I've got a big stack of Khypermedia 16x's and I've never tried them above 16...perhaps tonight is the night my burner will finally taste 24x?
