Burn 12x on a 8x burner???? **Nascar4 backup not work??

At this very sec im burning a cd using CloneCD. I have a Sony 140E 8x4x32.
I set the burn speed to 12x just to see if it would work...and so far it seems to be!
Im just wondering if its just saying 12x but really burning at 8x??
Anyone had any exp with this???

yeah, it will default to 8x (your max). I can set my 10x to 12x but it goes to 10x when burning

yup probably right...it took a full 6:15 to burn so that tells me its not 12x.

Ohhh and by the way...im trying to make myself a Backup of Nascar4 but it doesnt seem to wanna work??? Did they use a new method to copyright this one???
