Um..don't you mean "Burj Khalifa"?

Name change I guess. It's been known as the Burj Dubai while under construction for many years. I just googled Khalifa, seems it is a name of some significance in Islam. The Emir of Qatar is named Khalida but Dubai is in the UAE.

I also think "storeys" looks wrong.

I believe this tower is destined for some kind of a traumatic event, you read it first here. It just seems unnatural, really it does. Whether a truck bomber or engineering fault or who knows what else, it's just "not right". It sits wrong with me when I look at it like it should not exist. The same goes for that ridiculous new cruise ship that just had its maiden voyage. I want to go on that ship, though, but before it has an event. These are monstrosities.

What do you think is going to happen... a plane full of angry Christian fundamentalist terrorists are going to crash into it?

Hmm... I wonder if they put anti-aircraft guns on it. I would have!

My guess would be structural failure, probably in the same storm that washes away all those sand bars they built.

Can you imagine the workers building the last few storeys? Hanging 800 meters in the air!

I wonder if they considered the airplane fuel fire scenario that brought down the Twin Towers when they built this thing?

They changed the name to Khalifa because the Abu Dhabi Emir by the name of Khalifa bailed them out.

By the way, am I the only one thinking how the terrorists are salivating at that site?

It looks kind of ugly from a distance with its skinny asymmetry- I expected more of a robust minaret design, a real skypenis statement.
And if there is a structural failure, who do you blame? The architectural firm? Structural engineers, the main construction companies, the builders? It seems that once they got this started there was no turning back, global recession be damned.

The fact that they added stories as they went along scares me.

They added 300meters to the tower AFTER they broke ground.

Wasn't there a site up a few years ago, during the construction, that described many of the shortcuts and engineering faults being done while building it? If half of what that site said is true, I don't know that I'd go in that building.

I wouldn't go to that country anyway, so it's moot.
