If I had acquired Hunter's legitimate emails through hacking and I had the power of a nation-state behind me, motivated to sow chaos in US elections, what would I do if I found nothing of consequence for Joe Biden? I very-well might put it on some MacBooks along with some forged emails crafted to implicate Joe and let it leak by using Hunter's name, email, phone number, etc to leave it at a MacBook repair shop for data recovery. I might call Hunter or his assistant several times to say almost exactly what the shop would say but with different details so that Hunter would ignore the similar calls from the actual shop, almost guaranteeing that it will be "abandoned."
