Burial laws?

My best friend has a relative who is getting on in years (and I think has Parkinson's disease, if I recall 🙁), and probably won't be around much longer. He wants to be buried on his own property with as much privacy as possible. But is that even legal these days? Are they going to get in trouble if, when he finally passes on, they bury him on their family property and the law finds out?

Tried looking around Google out of curiosity but couldn't find anything.

In most places its against health department rules & zoning laws, but to be sure you will need to check local laws.

Where? Rural areas have a greater possibility, but a typical neighborhood lot in the 'burbs is not going to allow you a home burial.

we had a whole graveyard (from like..the 1800s) behind our house...didnty really bother us...it was cool when we were kids..used to camp out there and stuff, lol

He lives out in the sticks...about as rural as you can get, heh.

I'll tell 'em to check with his city hall or something when the time comes. Thanks for the info folks.
