This is ridiculous. Here's the story, I'm buying a house using a VA loan. The terms of the VA loan are excellent, low APR, no money down, lender pays closing, etc. But the lag time to get the VA and military to do anything is pathetic.
My issues with the VA started last year when they accused me of not paying into the MGIB system when I tried to claim my benefits. After several back and forths between me and them, I wrote a letter to Arizona senator John McCain. Shortly thereafter, the VA 'found' documentation confirming that I did pay into the fund. No word on whether or not it was the LES statements that I sent them.
A month ago, I submitted a request to get my DD214, military separation document, because they'd never mailed me the form. They deny this, but I've saved every document the USAF ever gave me, and it wasn't there. After several exchanges, lasting almost a month, going transferred between Randolph, Denver, and St. Louis, I finally spoke to an NCO rather than an airman or butter bar. She was fantastic, and my 214 was emailed to me while I was on the phone with her. Pathetic that no one else apparently could figure this out.
This time with the VA, they needed to appraise the house I intended to buy. They did, which I had to cover the cost for, and appraised the house for less than what the bank was asking. So, I definitely want the lower figure. The VA emailed myself and my lending rep a short 3 page PDF with a summary of the appraisal. Apparently, they are supposed to snail mail me a complete copy of their results, which I need to get to the lender rep to get the lower rate.
They did the appraisal two weeks ago. To date, I haven't received the complete form. And again, I get the run around when I try call the VA, who's business hours make banker's hours look long.
They tards are screwing up my time table. My original closing date was set for 15 June, but I want to move that up to 8 June because I'll be working the holiday weekend. I want to be fully moved into the house, unpacked, with all my appliances, etc, in place before I have to deal with 7 days of pretty much living at the office. Idiots.
Cliffs:
Government bureaucracy. I separated to get away from this shit and its still following me.
