Same reason why diesel jeans are $120 and Versace dress shirts are $300.

Because people still buy it.

I suppose you are right. I'll just goto Chinatown in NYC and pickup some "Burberry" clothes for "wholesale" prices. $12 for a Burberry tshirt, now THAT's what I'm talkin about!

Probably b/c ever since some idiot rapper dropped their name in a song they figured they could get "streetwise" suckers to buy their T-Shirts for outrageous prices. My mother does have a Burberry overcoat that she bought for $200 and it is definitely high-quality and has lasted her many many years.

I think Armani T shirts are about $250. It's all about status. In the past, the name meant extreme quality, extra hand finishing, special touches, etc. Now a Hanes Beefy T is made just as well.

Clothes are expensive because the market will pay it. Just like bandwidth....used to be ISDN wasn't metered and pretty cheap, now they know they can get people to pay for more that a few hundred hours and pay well when cable and DSL are not available. In some cases more than a cheap T1.

I'm studying American history right now, so I think it's appropriate to mention that it has been this way since 1650. The elites in America wore English clothes for no reason other than to show their class. Same reason people wear Diesel and such now, except now it's about being "fashionable" or even "intellectual"... in any case, people pay for it, therefore it exists.
I have some Diesel shoes that I got for $60 though.

That's nothing. In Maxim they have a "fashion" section in the back of every issue - the guys from That 70's Show were modeling the clothing - one guy had on clothing and every single piece cost over a grand - shirt, overshirt, pants, jacket, and watch. Ouch.

Why the hell does a magazine like Maxim, which is target to t-shirt-wearing, football-watching, beer-drinking men always advertise gay clothing?

BTW.. if you want to find out what your '$97' t-shirt is worth, check out ebay.com... Finding what fair prices are is almost important as the Ebay auctions themselves.

Also.. Armani suits can be had for $200 on Ebay.

Ok, part 2 was an iron from Sears for 25 bucks, but the damned link wont work cause Sears decides to do session specific cookies and whatnot. Bastages.
