:| :| :| :| :|

I had to get up at 4:30 this morning to haul my ass up to Vancouver, BC to do a few installations at one of the hospitals there. I spent all day there, with my car parked in one of the adjacent structures.

My phone kept ringing in the middle of the training sessions, but I didn't really get any service in the building anyway. So, while I took a short break to eat a small lunch out in my car, I left my phone in the car to charge.

Well, I came out at the end of the day to find that some miscreant pried back my driver-side door window to break in and jacked my phone, my charger, and my passport.

This sucks. :|

Wow, 2nd guy in a month that left valuable shit in his car and then posts about it when it got jacked.

Perhaps a PSA sticky is next.

Way to go. Leave your phone in your car for everyone to see and then complain when it, AND YOUR PASSPORT gets stolen.

What the hell are you leaving something as valuable and important as a PASSPORT in your car for? The phone you can replace without much hassle, but your passport?

Have fun going through all the red tape to get a new passport. IMO, you deserve it for leaving it out of your possesion in the first place.

Seriously... Not like they kidnapped, bound and tortured him. Savages definitely not the right choice of words. They didnt even vandalize the vehicle other than breaking into it.

yea, common sense not to leave valuables in cars, or in plain sight. But screw you for saying he deserves it. If someone is bigger than you, do they deserve to pummel you?

My passport was in the car because I had to cross into Canada with it. It wasn't in plain sight.

Neither was the phone, for that matter.

You see... yes, my valuables are gone, for now. I can still get them replaced, however.

Yet no matter what you do, you'll always be an asshole.

OK I deserve that for saying you desreved to get them stolen, I admit I may have mis-spoken.

But regardless of why you had your passport (I had figured it was to get into/out of Canada) this still doesnt explain why you would leave something so valuable in a car, not in your immediate possession! If you had $10,000 cash in a bag, would you leave that in your car unattended, under any circumstance? I wouldnt. Same goes for my passport.

Years of working in NYC taught me to think of things left in your car as little better then left sitting outside on a park bench ... sorry to hear what happened but hopfully you've learned avaluable lesson ... when it comes to security, auto-glass offer no more protection then air!

who the fuck do you think you are? some asshat fucking stole his shit and you're on the OP's case for not hiding the crap in his car?

you could've advised the OP to leave valuables in his glove compartment next time; instead you just come off as a total douchebag

Its too bad that happened. Hope that you don't leave something valuable like your passport in your car again.

Hooray for small towns. It's common to see vehicles running with various items inside and unlocked. Usually if someone steals your car you know a guy how knows a guy who's relative is or knows who stole the car.

Or when I lost my cell at the bar. The next day the owner called my wife to tell me he had my phone and that Mike had called.

edit: machine gun turret, not main cannon.
MPG on this thing gonna hurt my wallet, but it should be able to tow more than F550

See, thats the fscked up part about it... I've parked in some DICEY areas of Seattle at all times of the night and I've NEVER been vandalized like this.

But I park for 1 afternoon in Vancouver...

(BTW, I was parked in a structure near the intersection of Burrard & Comox.)
