Hi Everyone!!

I just bought a new computer... Here's a link if you want to check it out...

My New Machine

For those of you who don't know, vprMatrix is the new Best Buy brand. It seems like a good computer. It comes with an Intel Motherboard that allows monitoring of the CPU and system temperatures. My first question is, what are good temps for this system. At idle, the CPU is usually around 86 degrees F, and the system at 84 degrees F. When I apply a heavy load to the CPU, the CPU temp goes up to between 105 and 110 degrees F, and the system gets up to between 105 and 108 degrees F. I use NAV 2002 to check the temp at load. This program seems to put the CPU to work! Do these temperatures seem normal. I am using Intel's Active Monitor program to monitor these temperatures. When the system temp gets up to 108, the graph shows the temperature in the Yellow caution area.

This machine came with only the power supply fan, but has two spaces for additional system cooling. There is one fan slot in the back in which I've installed a system fan that draws warm air out of the system. There is a space in the front for a fan that would pull cooler air in. The problem is that the space has no screws for the fan. Instead it has little slots that were made for some sort of mounting bracket. I have an older machine that has a system fan enclosed in a white mounting bracket that clips onto the case. The machine is still in commission thought, so I can't steal this fan. I have been unable to locate a place where I could purchase a clip on enclosure for a fan. Does anyone know where I might find something like this?

Lastly, I was wondering what brand or type my case is. Has anyone seen this case before?

Thanks

1. err help me here by converting those fah to cels

2. Are you sure the little clips aren't for the fans themselves? My chieftech case has no fan screws either, just a clip for the fans themselves. Show me a pic and i'll tell ya

3. I have no idea about the brand and your case is a midtower :)

err and for $1500, i woulda built my own kick arse system, but to each his own :D

Your temp looks to be VERY HIGH! I would add the extra Fans ASAP! I would expect the system to be in the 40 to 50 cel. range. What is the ambient temp where the system is being used? I have Athlon XPs running SETI 24/7 and they don't get past 50 cel. The new P4s are supposed to be cooler!

They're not high. You do realize that the temps he gave you are in farenheight, right? He's getting 42C full load. That's a fine temperature and nothing to worry about.

Yup, those were Farenheit. Here they are in Celcius

CPU at idle 30
CPU at load 43
System at idle 29
System at idle 42

And I feel that I should say that the website for my computer is a little bit misleading on the price. I actually got that computer with a Samsung 17" flatscreen monitor and a Canon photo quality printer for 1299. I'd never pay 1499 for a prebuilt computer. This one just seemed to have a bunch of nice parts in it.

I will need to borrow a digital camera to get a picture of the inside of the case. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those (yet ;))

Well, that's not what is on my old machine, but those purple things do actually look like they would fit. Basically, it looks like there are two or so slots on each side of where the fan would go. There would be some sort of prongs on the fan bracket that would go into the slots and then slide down to lock the fan in place. At least that's what it looks like.
