Right now my whole pc is dead but when it did boot, I had trouble installing win xp. Specs are 3000+ winchester, neo2 k8n plat, 500w ultra connectx psu, 1gb crucial ballistix 6800 gt.

One of the problem was win xp hanging at the installation screen saying that 37min left for installation.

Other problem was certain files failing to copy from cd to hard drive after formatting the hd.

Next was freezing during xp copying a file to the hd.

Last is bsod after files were copied to hd.

I dont know what to rule out. My cd rom drive, hard drive, or ram? I wish i could test my hd and ram but now the pc wont boot. But, I did test my hard drive in a old compaq using its hd tester and it was fine. Cd-rom drives dont go bad easily do they? This drive has never had any problems reading disks. The crucial ballistix i tested each of them before i got the msi, but is it possible that they went bad somehow?

when i run memtest, must i test each one seperately? That will be a hassle because its tough to remove the ram with the xp-90 heatsink installed
