well hockey! when trying to assimilate the computers at school I ran into a bump in the road we installed 2 test machines and they are cracking away just fine. there is not problem with the software or the hardware. just the people.

I gave the what I thought was our sys admin the sheets directly from Dnet about what RC5 is well they stress that you have permission from the owners of the computer BEFORE you install the client. I think the guy took it way to seriously! well hell! any ideas on how to get it out of his head that all we need is HIS permission to do it NOT the schoolboards?

Narzy,

As a taxpayer, I'm an owner. You have my permission.:D

Seriously, the word "owner" applies to individual systems. It was never meant to preclude a sysadmin from installing the client. Since, in effect, there are millions of owners of these machines (the taxpayers) he becomes the defacto ownership representative.

Also, that clause is there to keep people from putting it on computers unknowingly. I would say that if he has control over what software to put on the computers, RC5 is perfectly fine.

Does he have to get the schoolboard's permission if he wants to install a copy of office? :)

Reminds me of the bumper sticker:

If you think Education is expensive, try Ingorance

BTW,
I agree with what's been said. Onwership can be defined as to who makes the decisions as to what software is loaded on the PC, not necesarily who "owns" them in a literal sense.

Good luck Narzy. :)
