Odd these same Republicans were against the original 9/11 hearings yet they want to turn 9/11 lite (not meant to be disparaging) into a show trial.

Most are saying the OP is a hack. he goes to great lengths to paint the GOP. in this case he telling a lie and stretching the truth to fit HIS agenda.

the t hread should be locked (it won't).

The thread should be locked because it calls out the moronic House members for what they are?

Right now it seems that the terrorists took advantage of the protest to attack the embassy.

Explain to me what exactly is wrong with embarassing them by painting them as dumbasses who stormed an embassy because of a Youtube video, as opposed to successful smart terrorists who premeditated an attack against "the Great Satan"? Why so intent on giving them the credit they want?

Right, an organized attack on two embassies is hastily put together during a riot. Come on use that thing on top of your shoulders. This was planned well before Sept 11th. Riots dont happen on a whim. And neither do attacks on embassies. Even the admin is finally admitting so much.

You must have been asleep during Rodney King trial or when that Canadian hockey team lost in the playoffs.

What I should have said since we are parsing words. Riots like those with a well defined goal of storming a foreign embassy dont usually happen on a whim. The only goal after the rodney king verdict was complete anarchy.

Right now it seems that the terrorists took advantage of the protest to attack the embassy. At the time they had no reason to think it wasn't an offshoot of the protest.

Explain to me what exactly is wrong with embarassing them by painting them as dumbasses who stormed an embassy because of a Youtube video, as opposed to successful smart terrorists who premeditated an attack against "the Great Satan"? Why so intent on giving them the credit they want?

Except that there was no protest in Benghazi -

At the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, there was never any spontaneous street mob angered about an anti-Muslim video, as was asserted by administration officials after a brutal attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans, State Department officials told Congress Wednesday.

This was known to EVERYONE in the White House and the State Department within 24 hours.

The House committee learned that administration officials knew or in some cases suspected almost immediately that the Benghazi assault was not the work of street hooligans reacting to an American-made video critical of Muslims and the Prophet Mohammed:

-- Deputy Secretary of State Charlene Lamb testified that once alerted to the ongoing attack and seated in the Diplomatic Security Command Center in Washington, D.C., she followed “in almost real-time” the “full-scale assault [on the Benghazi compound] that was unprecedented in its size and intensity.” During the assault on the compound, she communicated with a diplomatic security agent at the compound, who described the siege as it was happening and sought help from colleagues in Washington and Libya.

-- Under Secretary of State Patrick Kennedy, a diplomat who has served under every president from Richard Nixon to Obama, conceded he told colleagues shortly after the assault that he believed it was “a complex attack,” not the work of a random mob.

-- Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, who served at the Benghazi compound as the Site Security Team commander until weeks before the assault and is a critic of some State Department security decisions, told the committee, “It was instantly recognizable to me as a terrorist attack. . . . We were the last flag flying. It was a matter of time.”

State Department officials testified Wednesday that “dozens” of “extremists” who were well armed and prepared for battle stormed the large American compound and waged a violent overnight battle using diesel fuel, gunfire and well-aimed mortars. From Tripoli, a U.S. security team was flown to Benghazi as backup as the battled raged, supplemented by “a large number” of Libyan government security officers who assisted the Americans as they evacuated the site.

Although administration officials did not refer to the attackers as “terrorists” during their testimony, they did not contradict Republican members of the committee who did.

This thread title needs to say "Republicans catch State Department Blunder"

Republicans catch blunder.
Republicans blamed for blunder.
Anyone disputing Republican blame is thoroughly insulted.
Business as usual.

Thread Backfire is right. You started the thread, it can only backfire on you.

Nope, backfired on yourself. You made an accusation of a backfire, but ironically, the only backfire was on you! :awe: EAT IT! :awe:

Why would the administration have had to release this information right when it happened, while still investigating? What would it have accomplished?

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) was the first to unmask the spooks. “Point of order! Point of order!” he called out as a State Department security official, seated in front of an aerial photo of the U.S. facilities in Benghazi, described the chaotic night of the attack. “We’re getting into classified issues that deal with sources and methods that would be totally inappropriate in an open forum such as this.”

OP fail for sure. Maybe they should have just let the State dept. goob keep blabbering. Only a hack would blame the Representative as the one who outed a CIA operation.

The state dept official did not refer to anything about the CIA. It was the Republican twit from Utah who interjected that into an open hearing.

It's amazing how these idiots don't get it.
