Bum computer

Ok. So I was playing a game, then my computer crashes. The first thing that happened was my monitor went blank, as if it were switching resolutions (I have a CRT) and then it said there was no input signal. I said to myself, "just a glitch" and hit the reset button on my computer. But instead of displayed my mobo screen, it fades in to white/gray. Then, I guess when it switched to loading Windows, it was a bunch of rainbow-colored pixels. At that I reached around to my PSU and switched it off. I think my GFX card is dead.

But, just now when I was dusting out my case, I noticed that my chipset fan was unplugged, and I don't know if I knocked it out while reaching over it while dusting, or if I didn't plug it back in when I reset my CMOS a while back. Now I'm thinking it could be either I have a dead mobo, or a dead GFX card.

Your thoughts?

chipset for mobo or vga? Either way, mobo will not die without a fan on its chipset.. Most likely its vid card. Try to RMA it. (also try to test if the mobo beeps without vid card)

That's a problem also, I don't ever remember my mobo beeping when it should have. I found it strange. Do all mobo's have err...speakers? beepers?

Anyway, I have yet to turn on my comp after I turned it off two days or so ago. Will post when I do.

If U have an old PCI vid card or another AGP card, I'd try that. It sounds like the video card went out. I've seen similar things before. If another card also doesn't work, you might have lost your northbridge, to which the video's bus eventually goes. It's better to test it with another card so you know which it is up front, and you buy the right thing.

That's also a problem. The only other video cards I have are AGP, and my board is PCI-E. I'm just going to go ahead and RMA it.
