Bulletstorm, by People Can Fly

Yup, from the makers of Painkiller comes their upcoming title Bullestorm, looks very interesting to me, it's right in PCF's veins as it seems to be a "mindless shooting" FPS à-la Borderlands mixed with Painkiller and/or Duke Nukem (you'll understand if you watch the trailer). I for one will surely keep an eye on it. And, yes it's a multi-platform game, pretty much as usual, it still seems interesting.

Looks okay, but reminds me too much of The Punisher PSN game released not horribly long ago. Looks like it should be a $20 PSN/XBL/Digital Download game...we'll see...

I just wish Epic games would stop partnering with other studios and just give us a good Unreal Tournament game again.

Oh, and Gears 2 should come out for PC too. lol

Story? No thanks in this kind of a game, it would just get in the way.

Well, that depends. Some people have been comparing it to Borderlands and I bet if you'd ask people that play it (myself included), one of the worst part of Borderlands is the weak story... mostly given the RPG nature of it. I'm not sure of the point of Bulletstorm.. it seemingly had some sort of point system (more like Tony Hawk style from what I saw) that might do something, but it's probably not RPG-ish a la Borderlands.

Wouldn't think so when you consider their last game was Painkiller.

I love a good story as much as the next person in some games, but I can't understand every ones recent need for one. Maybe it's because all we get is ported shooters that play like wet balls? So they need a story to motivate them to drudge through the horrible game play. I like the game play to be reason enough to play.

Not directed at you so much, but I keep seeing threads of people bitching about action games with lame stories. It's an action game, just crank the difficulty and kill some people.

If PCF is making it, this shit doesn't have a story. Sorry, but it is in your benefit to understand the developer and what their strengths and weaknesses are. PCF is a group that set out to make games in the 'quake' vein with outrageous bunny hopping, fast paced battles and lots of action. Story takes a back seat here and just from the name "bulletstorm" I'm going to go out on a limb and say the company is still on track for their usual plans. Here is hoping this is as good as the original Painkiller and not anything that came after that one.

There is always room in the market for their style of FPS, it's very under-represented because these games are nearly impossible to play on consoles.

Yup. Painkiller still remains my favorite mindless, fast-paced, "kill anything that moves" shooter. Awesome game. (There's a story? What story?)

As long as you're not looking to play a genre-changing FPS, it could be a good time.

I love to kill things, in different ways.

Got a commercial for the new halo before the real video started and I was like WTF this game looks just like halo...

You can pretty much guarantee a game will be mediocre if when you kill something points flash with some sort of stupid text label on your kills.

I'm looking forward to playing it. Sure, it doesn't look to have much of a story, but it'll be good for when I'm in one of those "fast paced, mindless shooter" moods.

I think awarding points for how you kill enemies fits this type of shooter. It rewards players for being more creative. What I don't like is how kicking something makes it float in the air, seems gimmicky.

Good that unreal engine runs well on most machines, sucks that the shades of colors look off ( as any unreal powered game ), as far as content; it probably will get boring because its not challenging (ie, plenty of ammo and guns available to keep blasting - too easy)

Looks to be a wait for $20-30 for me. I love me a mindless shooter, but not THIS mindless. It'd be ~15 hours at best w/ not much replay value, and I don't see much multiplayer that could be done here that would be better than anything else out there.
