The stupidity would be hilarious if we didn't have a bunch of these idiots in government positions all over the country.

As usual, the leftists have decided that there isn't anything a well crafted tax can't solve. Bunch of gangbangers in Chicago shooting up the place? No problem, just impose a tax on legal purchases of bullets in that county, that will fix it. Don't worry about fixing the actual underlying problems, taxing bullets or creating ever more restrictive gun laws will fix it. o_O

They also know that even should a law like this go into effect, it will immediately be bogged down in lawsuits costing millions. A county with a $100 million deficits should not be wasting millions on inevitable lawsuits that will follow implementation of idiotic laws. Morons.

Well, to be fair, the underlying problem is poverty. That isn't easily solved.

Because everyone knows the gangbangers like to buy their ammo at walmart. Make ammo unaffordable and the drug problem will disappear overnight.

I like that idea, How many bullets do you really need? Bullets should be like razors blades for a razor or ink for a printer.

Nope, that's not easily solved, I agree. Also, poverty might play a big role, but there are plenty of other places that have terrible poverty that are not seeing the kind of violence that Chicago is experiencing. Children out of wedlock with no fathers in their lives, poverty, lack of jobs, poor education, culture of victim-hood all play their part, and taxing bullets solves nothing.

Hmm, go to another state and stock up on 10s of thousands of rounds of ammunition and sell on black market. Sell at a price below taxed ammo. I see a business opportunity here.

Or just order it online delivered to your door.

Why don't they just ban handguns in chicago, that would surely fix the problem right?

So, you're in favor of special taxes on computers then because a lot of criminals use computers for their crimes? How about additional taxes on cars because they are used for crimes as well. On second thought, maybe just additional taxes on everything, that will fix everything in one fell swoop! Oh wait, that's the democrat party platform.

So, federally, that is what should happen. Really, how many bullets do you use in a lifetime?

LMAO!!!! As if the gangbangers won't be able to purchase their ammo elsewhere that doesn't have this tax.

Yup, we all know they can't possibly drive 10 minutes into the next county and get around this tax, thus hurting the local county economy further and cutting even more jobs. Sounds like a brilliant plan ;) Like I said, it would be funny if we didn't have all these kinds of morons running things.

How many computers do you need? Criminals use them! How many phones do you need? Criminals use them! Lets put a $500 tax on all new computers, and a $500 fee on each cell phone, that should fix the crime problem.

I use probably 500 when I go to the range which is at least once a month. I keep at least 10 thousand on hand at any time.

I think you prove my point. How many bullets do normal people keep in their house?

A gun was made to kill things. People, animals, things. Maybe find another example of a product who's primary design is to injure or kill and maybe you may have a point. Else, I am not sure if your argument has any point.

Well with the increase in pay as a result of the teacher strike, the poor education aspect will be solved in no time.

Unlikely to pass and would be struck down in the courts if it did.

A useless policy.
