OK, I hooked everything up & powered on. I got the Diamond (MSI BIOS) screen asking to TAB for post or DEL for BIOS options. I think this is probably a good sign except my keyboard isn't being recognized so i can't choose either option...? Now this isn't my real keyboard, just a Dell that I hooked into it to get going (ordered a Saitek & it's on it's way from NewEgg). If someone knows why this is happening clue me in please, thanks.

Ok, easiest thing first: are you sure you have it plugged into the right port? (mouse vs. keyboard)

Make sure the keyboard's plugged into the purple port, not green. If it is in the wrong port, turn the computer off, then swap it to the correct one.

Oh, the generic answer when you don't know what's going on -> reset CMOS/ check jumper for the right position

Do the minimalist benchtest on cardboard, too. Nothing but what is needed for POST, plus your keyboard in this case. Also, just to re-emphasize this, don't hot-plug PS/2 keyboards or mice, turn the computer off.

I guess I need to do the CMOS thing, but I don't know how. Also, I think I may have hot plugged it at first, but I also powered down & tried again...still the same problem. I got the mobo already screwed into the case & would rather not pull it out again as I have huge hands and screwing it in was the hardest part of this whole build....lol

BTW, thanks for your guide on building mech, it gave me the starter info i needed for the most part.

To reset CMOS, there should be a jumper near the battery on the motherboard. (your manual will tell you if it's not obvious)

Make sure it's not in the clear position when you're turning it on.

To reset, move it to the clear position for 30 seconds or so and then place it back in the running position. This will reset all the settings to the factory originals in case something go messed up somehow.

Sounds good, I will give that a shot. The mobo isn't actually a Diamond, but SIK was using that BIOS on the board because it's better. That's why I'm trying to avoid the CMOS reset in the first place. I guess he could tell me where to get it now though.

I have a Neo Plat mobo.
It "may" just be your mobo, i moved to a USB keyboard, all is fine now.

Thanks for the compliment Goi, and big time thanks to MTDEW for giving me the answer to my question. Good stuff man.

Oh and btw, my Saitek Keyboard is a USB keyboard so when it gets here I should be good to go.
