I have a Belkin wireless router F5D7230-4

The setup on my old computer was no problem
but with the new computer I can't connect.

I am not even using the wirless, I have the new computer plugged into the back of the router.

I have comcast cable and can connect fine on the new computer without the router, as soon as I hook up the router it will only get as far as "the connection has limited or no connectivity"

I reset the router, I think, and still nothing.

I suck at networking settings so I have no clue

anyone have any idea?

I just helped my Dad set up a home network that he had been trying to get working on and off for several months and that was his problem (mac address clone needed) I is sure nice to finally know something he didn't. :D

I don't think comcast uses mac authentication acording to stuff I read on dsl reports.

All the settings are the same on the old computer and the router works fine

the modem works fine on the new conputer, but when I hook up the router I get no connection

I can not even access the routers control panel

If you can not access the Router control panel it means that the computer does not have an IP thta fits the Belkins range.

If you are using the DHCP server of the Belkin makes sure that the TCP.IP of the computer is set to Auto obtain IP and DNS.

are your network card drivers installed? try a different ethernet cable.

I think this might be the problem but don't knoe how to fix it.

Should I try to assign a ip to the computer that is within the range of the router?
if so how?

did the router come with a software cd for it? try installing that cd and you should be able to get through the router or at least access the routers control panel.

No suggestion, just a comment. That's exactly how my last router acted, right before it went in the trash.

it might wind up there

it works fine on the old computer so it is not the router

how do I change the ip of the new computer so it is in the same range as the router?

Right click on the Network Icon and Select Status
Then click on Properties
Now Select TCP/IP from the list and Hit the Properties Box
ON the General Tab check to "Obtain An IP Automatically" and also "Obtain DNS Automatically"
Now click on Advanced ... first tab, make sure it says "DHCP Enabled" & Auto Metric is checked
On the DNS Tab, everything should be checked EXCEPT FOR: Append these DNS Suffixes and Use this Computers DNS suffix
On the WINS Tab, check Enable LM Host lookup

You can set an IP from the general tab above
Also, since it is a new pc, be sure the Internet Protocol is installed .. you may need to add it

You can also clear out your IP in the computer with these commands (from the run prompt)

IPRELEASE .. and then IPRENEW

Hey guys, I've had the exact same problem and came across this thread in a search. Comcast has recently taken over my local broadband and now my router won't work, but a computer connected directly to the modem will.

I've tried several routers, no computer connected to them can access the internet (just a time-out type connection), though I have access to their settings and the computers can see each other. What a pain in the neck. My router is already set to clone the MAC address..really don't know what else to do.

Have you had any luck master shake?
