So I assembled a computer this weekend for the parts he ordered:
-Corsair Vengeance 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
-Gigabyte Intel Z68
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
-Intel Core i5-2400
-EVGA GeForce GTX 560
He already had an OCZ 700w PSU and 2 HDDs.
Problem:
So his computer randomly restarts. Sometimes it is so quickly he never can see the BIOS and other times he can be on for hours.
I have not had a chance to physically look at it, but I am trying to give him ideas. I had him remove ALL cables from his case to the motherboard just in case there was a short in one of those wires (i.e. power button or reset button).
I had him check the Motherboard standoffs and to look at the HSF backplate. Everything looked good there according to him. He also checked for every cable to be snuggly pushed in (including the PSU cable in the back).
I would say it is a PSU problem, but that would be a huge coincidence for the rock solid PSU to cause this as soon as I build him the new machine.
Any thoughts from you guys?
