The video has multicolor tints and there are like streaks across the screen. It also has a weird pincusion on one side. A restart fixes it sometimes... sometimes it just doens't want to budge. Not really a mac oriented question, maybe the guy who knows tons about monitors might know something? I know he answers lots of monitor questions.

It sounds like the monitor was expose to a magnet. Make sure if you have speakers that they are sheilded.

you could have several different problems .. this is one of the reasons i think its stupid to put a computer in a monitor .. and resoldering the video chips .. sure that sounds like fun, is it under warranty? if so call 1800 SOS APPL ( i believe thats still the number) .. if not, you are sol most likely .. good luck ..

aye, I agree it is stupid to put a monitor in a PC. It's a pretty cheap mac to use OS X with though. I am pretty sure the 1 year warranty froma pple is over.

I used Macs exclusively for 14 years. In the last 5-6 years or so the quality of their CRT monitors took a nosedive. I don't know what it was, but my monitor repair friend had more Apple monitors on his bench than any other. And once they go bad, he could never really get them good again. If yours is out of warranty, then I don't know if there's much hope for it.

This is why personally I would never buy a system with a built in monitor. I have gone thorugh three computers and still ahve the same monitor at home.
