Normally you have to hold down the two outer buttons to reset the system (the LED starts blinking rapidly when it's ready), then take your garage door remote and hold it near the Homelink transmitter. Some openers, though, have a "roving" code, and, on these, you have to press a "Learn" button on the opener itself, then, within 30 seconds, press the desired Homelink button. All this is done AFTER doing the first steps I described above.
