Hi, before I plugin my first built PC today, I want to make sure its safe to boot. I Finished about 20min ago btw. I took a picture of the inside, and want to post it here because Im not sure how bad I did the whole wiring thing. It looks like a total mess, and have no clue where to begin. I have small and large twist ties, and cable ties btw. How bad is it? Heres a picture.

Safe enough to boot or no? Its an Antec P180 case btw. Hard Drive and PSU area look fine...

Try folding that IDE cable like oragami. I did that, and now you cannot even see it. Use twist ties, etc and it should be all right.

I dunno Shadow Conception. I can see how the wires could block the fans or drives and stuff. I just want to make sure lol. Ill try and tie some cables up, and I'll start on BIOS, WinXP, Drivers and stuff (Hope everything works *prays*).

You don't have your memory running in dual channel

Use the orange slots!

Also, make sure everything is plugged into the motherboard. IE 4-pin molex and floppy power.

They don't produce more or less heat, but they can very easily block airflow.

OP - Rounded IDE cables, or upgrade to SATA?

Zip tie them to the motherboard mounting plate (not the board itself!) or route behind it if the cables are long enough. Also fold the IDE cable flat to the side. :)

I prefer folding IDE cables as oppsosed to round ones. Personal preference though.

Take it easy, just don't OC for a while, you don't wanna void the warranty in case something screws up and you blow the rig up.

Everything works like a friggin dream <3

Specs:
Case: Antec Performance I P180
Power Supply Unit: Antec SmartPower 500watt
Processor: AMD X2 4400+ (Overclocking to 2.4GHz w/Arctic Silver 5)
Motherboard: DFI LanParty UT NForce4 Utra-D
RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 2x1GB PC3200
Hard Drive: Western Digital Raptor 74GB (Operating System/Apps/Games)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda SATA 3.0gb 300GB (Games/Roms/Pictures/Video/Work)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ATA/100 160GB (Music)
Video Card: eVGA 7900GT CO 256bit (Like 7800GTX but $100 cheaper)
Sound Card: Creative Labs X-Fi Platinum
Optical: NEC 16x DVD Burner
Optical: (using from old system) 4x DVD Burner
Floppy: Samsung 1.44mb
Keyboard: Saitek Gamer's Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech G7
Monitor: Dell 2005FPW 20.1" Monitor

Everything works great. Its so quiet, when the Raptor isnt working that is ;). Still quieter than my eMachine tho. Such a big upgrade lol. From Celeron 2.6GHz, 256mb ram, integrated intel graphics (ONE pixelpipeline, core clock 200mhz, 64bit), RealTek audio, etc etc. The CPU is 36c on average, so the Arctic Silver 5 is working well. Im going to get 3dMark06 to test the video out. Also MemTest, PiCalculator, and (havnt looked into yet) Prime95(?).
