Hey All,
I've tried all kinds of things to get this computer to post yesterday. The only components connected to the mobo now is the ram, graphics card, cpu/fan, and the pwr btn. I've tried taking the reducing the chances of it shorting out, and using one stick of ram at a time. I've checked the cpu and everything looks fine. Cleared CMOS too. Here is what I have:

Asrock Supercomputer _ bought from someone on this forum who assured me that was was working fine.

Core i7 _ new, using stock fan now

OCZ DDR3 Triple Channel (6gb) _ used/likenew

Radeon 4770 _ new

Corsair vx550w powersupply _ new

_ So the fans are going wild, especially on the graphics card. Anyone know what would cause this?

_ Also, should the keyboard light up when the computer isn't posting? maybe it's a display problem.

Anyways, I'm stumped and need help.
Thanks.

On the DIMM there is a 1.5v on the plastic. Could it be that I need ram the runs @ 1.5v? Right now the OCZs that I have say 8.8.8 @ 1.65v. I'm hoping this could have somthing to do with it

Here is my similar experience, and I have been stumped for three weeks now. My new Cyberpowerpc.com p6t, i7-920, 6gb corsair dominator, two EVGA 9600gt in SLI, was DOA. I figured out that if I reset the CMOS, it would boot fine with the 15-pin vga monitor connector...but as soon as I connect my 19" sony with the DVI cable, no post until reset CMOS. I have it running now with two monitors connected...If I let it post with the old CRT monitor, then connect my dvi from my Sony LCD, it works fine, I can turn it on, off, everything is working. I just can't start up the computer with only the DVI. I tried it on a friend's monitor with the same result. Cyberpower wants to RMA the motherboard, but I have my doubts.
I am assuming you have done all the basic checks, like both motherboard power connectors, ram installed per motherboard manual (you don't say what board you have). I have been looking for someone with the same problem, but it is not easily recognizeable for the dvi cable to be causing no post...I just happened to post the computer with no monitor connected to discover this.

I guess I should emphasize that every time you make a change and attempt to post, you probably need to clear the CMOS. It appears to be some kind of short detection that can only be cleared by defaulting Bios with the jumper. I had attempted to post with only the motherboard and cpu connected before making this discovery. The procedure for this kind of no post issue would be to unplug every wire to you motherboard except for two power supply connectors; remove ram; reset CMOS jumper (don't forget to put it back in original position, been there, done that); and power on to see if you get the post beep. Then you can reconnect components one at a time until one gives you a failure to post...no beep at power on. I assume your computer is equipped with a system speaker, otherwise you won't have any post beeps... As I have stated, my computer does not post with the DVI cable connected...

Yea I thought it could be a video thing, I tried both dvi and analog with 2 different LCDs, but havn't tried a CRT yet. The mobo is an Asrock Supercomputer X58, I can't tell what version of it though. I don't know what BIOS are on it either.
I'm going to try some of my brothers RAM, it's dual channel DDR3 though. If I use one stick should the computer boot?

Still there, Seldomc? I am anxious to see what resolves your issue. I have looked at your motherboard manual, which I am sure you have, too. You do have your Ram in the white slots, right? No post beep even after clear CMOS?

Yea I havn't been able to figure it out. I'm trying to use a speaker from another computer but not getting anything. Yea the ram has been checked several times. Might be taking it in to get the components tested
