Building your own Laptop??

Is it possible to build your own laptop, like building a desktop? You order the motherboard, the case some other stuff through it together and boom you have a laptop... Has anyone ever heard of doing that, or is it not that easy. I had a friend tell me it was just like building a desktop only smaller, which I can agree with, but I cant seem to find any laptop motherboards or cases anywhere.

What do yall think?

Maybe if you have access to a machine shop, plastics workbenches, and a lot of spare time, raw materials, and a desire to spend more building one than you would buying one .. then MAYBE you could build a laptop. 😛

And then who do you call when it breaks down and you need warranty service? 😀

You can get bare bones setups with just the chassis, mainboard, screen, battery, keyboard, ...... (seems hard to call it bare bones once you list off all the custome spec parts a lappy needs)
 
Most laptops are custom made for the manufacturers. I don't think it is really possible. I looked into it about 6 months ago and it just wasn't feasible :/
