I'm building a new gaming PC with a $1,300-$1,500 budget in November in anticipation of Battlefield 3 and Diablo 3. I know that 8 months with regards to computer hardware is a lifetime, but I'm going to follow the industry and update my Newegg cart accordingly as new products come out :)

I know my build is far away, but what can I look forward to from now until then as far as how my components are going to change..be it price or models. My guesses are:

1. Perhaps a lower $/GB on SSD's?
2. Sandy's successor?
3. Newer GTX's?
4. Ram should be about the same I'd imagine.
5. Cases...I presume the Coolermaster HAF will be where I go unless something changes.
6. Lower prices on LCDs? Looking for 23-27"

Anyway, it's fun to speculate! Plus I need something to hold me over until then, haha. Any thoughts are welcome!

Thanks

TOO much time left... you are better off waiting till September at the minimum to start planning. In the mean time, just read the new articles that come out on Anand's main page and other computer websites. That will help you learn things on your own and catch up to what is new.

The only thing that might be worth buying now is RAM since it is so cheap compared to the prices same time last year. But even that is risky as we don't know the future RAM requirements for Socket 2011 CPUs.

Aw ok. I just thought it'd be fun to speculate.

Sorry Man, didn't mean to kill the fun for you. If you want though you can just look around for PSU, Case, and the parts that you know can be use no matter what.

I remember before doing my build I must have looked at a 100 youtube videos of case reviews and unboxings of parts to gather a sense of how brands differ. You can do the same if you like.

By doing this over the span of next few months, you will notice that you will be able to decide on your own much more confidently.
