how does this system sound for my sister who will be doing some light gaming, homework (MS office stuff), and web surfing.

Abit BD7-II Mobo (i have this laying in the box)
Antec Mni Tower with TruePower 300W PSU
Celeron 1.7Ghz CPU
Samsung PC2700 2x256MB (I have 2 sticks of 256MB memory sitting here not in use)
Lite-On 48x/24x/48x CDRW
Gainward GF3 Ti200
Turtle Beach SantaCruz Soundcard
IBM 60GXP 40GB 7200RPM HD (Yes I know about the issues with these but it's lasted a long long while without any problems so I'm gonna use it)

I think that's good. Rounded IDE cables for all her stuff too.

looks good to me...plenty of ram...although its running on a celeron...but shouldnt be a problem for all the things she plans to do with it...

maybe u can consider to get a XP 1600 and ECS sis 735 board instead, much better performance for a low price (not sure how much $ difference with the celeron though)

but Intel board is much more stable than SIS. Not that I'm gonna overclock it any, but still.

all together I'm spending about $380 give or take a few bucks

my thinking is...when I upgrade my P4 setup I can swap the Celeron for my P4.
