Well, in response to me selling my current comp to my step-dad, i decided to build a shuttle XPC system, the amd route...or at least i think....

-Shuttle XPC SN41G2 Nvidia nForce2/MCP-T 2 DDRAM FSB266/333MHz for AMD SOCKET A Processors Barebone PC FLEX ATX - Retail $309

-AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ "Barton" 333 FSB PROCESSOR CPU- RETAIL $94

-CRUCIAL MICRON 512MB 64x64 PC 2700 DDR RAM - OEM $70

-WD WESTERN DIGITAL "SPECIAL EDITION" 80GB 7200RPM EIDE HARD DRIVE MODEL # WD800JB - OEM, DRIVE ONLY $82

-LG ELECTRONICS DVD COMBO 48X24X48 CD-RW/ 16X DVD-ROM, MODEL GCC-4480BB - OEM, DRIVE ONLY $61

TOTAL: $619 shipped.

Should i go w/ the XPC AMD or INTEL system? i've heard good about the nforce2. ill just use the onb0ard video until i need something more (i only play warcraft3)

opinions? changes? etc?

thk you

that new XPC with the new 800mhz fsb/dual channel ddr400 intel chipset would kick some serious ass too... how much are you planning to spend?

yeah well if you are just playing WC3, then the AMD will be fine. The SN41G2 is really good too.

If you get the SN41G2, get two sticks of 256 so you can use the Dual Channel DDR on the system. It looks like you will be using the onboard graphics, that needs the DC DDR to perform well.

Yeah, i would, i was just doing a quick config....the gf4mx 128 onboard, wont be terrible, at least for what i use it for...should be a nice lil' quiet system :), 512 would be enough memory right? only 2 slots and if i go dual channel, then its either 2 256 or 2 512, dont think i need a gig...
