The stock heatsink will adequately cool your CPU if installed correctly. They wouldn't sell it with the chip if it did not. Are your temps any better?

if in fact you have played with any of the jumpers on the mobo pls set them all back to there dfults..and go into the bios and see if you can reset the bios to..setup-defaults...then try booting the machine...

Just now I turned my pc on to the bios and it quickly reached 68c and turned off. I installed the heatsink correctly because both latches a hooking on.

Either you have the wrong heatsink or did not install it correctly if you are running 68 in the BIOS. Are there any other temp listings in the BIOS?

yes it weill there crappy as i said um there is a heat sinking problem ...i know you don't want to get another cooler but 68C is way to high i would expect with a stock cooler well under stock..that it should no go over 50C at idle in the bios..though the cpu is known to run a little over idle when your in the bios...

both the fan and the heatsink block can wiggle ..um that is not good..um ..it must be ridged it should not turn at all..it may well be that the plastic mount that is attached to the mobo..check and see if that is ridged fixed to the mobo..

i can think of only one other reason that excludes the cooler...if the temp in the bios is being misreported..i trust coretemp..have used it on all my processors having more than one core..but given this i can only see that which i have stated..the heatsink/fan assy is very poor.....

i should enlighten some here..the temp`s in your bios hardware monitor and alike....

the mobo temp prolly close to correct..

the cpu temp..its the temperature of the underside of the cpu..

the coretemp program is the truest temp sensing program as it monitors the core and not the outside of the cpu....

I'm going to get the cooler master vortex plus since my case is a mid tower. For the vortex plus I don't need to remove my backplate right?

no u dont it fits straight on ...the bracket however is flimsy and can be asembled the wrong way...you will find the cooler sits very close to the top of your case...i have one sitting right here you can get one if you like but i suggest that u dont..it sits in the ..dire need ...box as well..the cooler you would be better off with....go with this one ..i fitted one a couple of month`s ago to a mid tower amd 4300 cpu works a treat http://www.msy.com.au/vic/pascoeval...103-rr-h103-22pb-r1-cpu-cooler-universal.html

you have not mentioned much about your case .apart from it`s a mid toer pls post a url or addy so i can have a look .pls...if it has the space for an exhaust fan and there prolly is you should fit one ..

the case is a nzxt phantom 410. I forgot to mention I been buying parts from microcenter and I want to continue b/c it is convenient.

The case has 3 fans one on the front, back, and top (on the furthest grill). the one you reccomended me is out of stock in the location I go (rockville md)

..........i know it`s only a tripple pipe cooler but as far as that goes i would have prefered a quad..i had a six..i dont know why they divide the number of pipe`s but that is how peop`s have said it to me..i have not asked anybody on the forum as to their thoughts on the matter ....all up you can fit it onto your existing bracket..

well the AM cooler fixed the problem but now the problem with the audio. I still don't get it both the front and back ports don't work even tho i re installed drivers. I feel like it is the mobo.

might be an idea to dissable onboard sound and get a audio card..is the simplest fix in the short term..

as for y the onboard sound has failed r u shure you have the sound manager setup correctly..and your sound amp is working and so on..
