Building PC

I am building a PC for the first time (which was probably a big mistake but oh well) and I am now trying to start the initial installation. The problem I am having is that I cannot get any video feed so I can go through the BIOS setup and then install windows. I have installed the video card into the motherboard but I think the video card needs to run an installation disk to install the video card driver into windows. If I need to install the video card into windows in order to get video feed and I need a video feed to install windows and the BIOS setup, then how can I complete the software installation. I have my computer connected to my TV not a monitor if that matters. I have been trying to connect through both an HDMI cable and a VGA cable.

I'm sure there is a lot that I don't know about this so if you need more info, please let me know what it is. Here is some information about the hardware I have:

Motherbord - Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P
Graphics Card - Sapphire I think unit # 1909-1919, 19/F

I started building PC's back in the early 70's with Key Punch when Commador, Cyrix and Megatrend was the main stream Platform. Back then DOS was the OS and Win3 was just a shell - Drivers were irrelevant. It's been a continuous long road from Fat 8 to NTFS and UEFI GNU Tables - Let alone BSD and Linux.

Glad you got a PC and willing to learn the physical layout of the Hardware - Just be warned: Don't become a GEEK - It may take over your life.

Good luck - Lots of trial an error - No one's Platform/OS is the same as an others as each system is an extension of the individual whom built and programmed it.

I say don't give up learning but if you don't want conflict in your life as there is no End with PC's forget it and just use a Cell Phone or a Tablet and be content to be PC ignorant.

Video drivers don't matter you should still see your computer post on your tv/monitor. I would suggest checking that your HDMI is plugged in correctly to the port on the video card and list all of your specs to the computer. That way you can receive more accurate help.

It sounds like your video card may not be fully seated in the PCIe socket. Try re-inserting it, and make sure you see an LED light up on the card when you power on. If you don't, you may have a defective card.

Is this an AMD system or an Intel system? Oh . . . I just answered my question.

I can only say from Intel experience that this sort of thing can happen with the built-in Intel 3XXX and possible 4XXX graphics, when sticking the graphics card in the box before your first successful boot. Blank screen, misconfigured BIOS.

But someone else should know better than I about the board and processor chosen by the OP.
