Building PC need advice

Planning on building a PC for the first time and I have some parts already, but need help on the rest of the components, such as, what else do I need to complete system. I have not yet decided yet whether it will be Intel or AMD as of yet. I will be mainly doing email, watching/downloading videos, MP3s, and some game playing with this PC. Trying to keep costs reasonable.

What I have:
2x Maxtor 40GB 7200 RPM HDD
Maxtor 80GB 7200 RPM HDD
PNY 256MB DDR Ram PC2100 (not Samsung TCB3)
2x Kingston 256 DDR Ram PC2100
Cendyne 32x12x40x CDRW
Logitech Z 340 Speakers
Buslink 16x DVD
Logitech Opitcal Mouse
Viewsonic 19" A90F Monitor

Still need:
Case
Keyboard
Sound Card
Video Card
Wireless USB adapter ---> Looking @ Netgear MA 101
Anything else??

Intel System:
Intel P4 1.8A or 2.0A
Abit IT7 Max Motherboard

AMD System:
AMD 1600+, 1700+, or1800+
MSI KT3 Ultra MOBO

okay i currently have the it7 max board and holy sh*t is it stable

be forwarned it has NO PS2 PORTS SO MAKE SURE U GET ALL USB

the amd system undoubtidly will be cheaper and will perform nearly the same as the intel.

for graphics cards we really need to know what games?

with SOME games i would figure a nice ti4200 gainward makes very nice cards.

case is a necessity, but can also be a very nice looking necessity

aluminum cases are exspensive, but very sweet looking

steel is cheaper, but less professional looking

here are 2 of each
(note aluminums dont come with power supply)

steel
Antec 1040bII

And any of these are excellent too just smaller

Aluminum

Any of these

Different manufacturer, but any of these

(those are the exspensive aluminum cases, go look at the mini\med cases at newegg for the *cheaper* ones)

If you were to get the aluminum case, you would need a power supply, and i would get the antec true power 430 for your system. it has high demends no matter what else you put in it, but it also allows for future exspansion

as for sound card get the voyetra turtle beach santa cruz, or the sound blaster audigy, or the ercules game theatre xp

more memory would also help you, in future games, and windows xp

nourdmrolNMT1, thanks for your input on the components and the cases. Those aluminum cases are very nice , but price wise not what I'm looking for at this time. The case I was thinking about buying is at the local Fry's and looks pretty good to me. It has a 350W PS and 5 fans are included, too. What do you think about it?

Also, I think something along the lines of a 64MB video card would work just fine for me since I do little gaming if at all. Any suggestions? Would like to get as much as I can from one retail outlet to save on shipping costs and newegg seems to be the place to do that with their reasonable prices for the products I'm interested in and the low FedEx shipping rates.
