Building new system

I'm in the process of building a new system and am trying to find that right balance of performance between the cpu and vid card, I'm going with AMD on this one and am trying to decide between an A64 5000+ with an ATI x1950xt or an A64 4400+ with an nVidia 8800 GTS 320MB card. Either way the price is going to be similar for these two systems or do you think there is a better choice out there? I'm only wanting to spend around $450 US for the vid card and processor. I'd also consider the Core2Duo 4300 but I don't know if I could get a quality mobo at a decent price for it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
