Building new system

I am building a new system but I am not sure if I am balanced or not. By that I mean should I get a slower CPU a little and get a better GPU or so on.

My designed rig is as follows:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40Ghz
MB: Asus P5B (no delux or anything)
GPU: Sparkle GeForce 7600 GT 256 Mb GDDR3 PCI-E
RAM: PQI Turbo Memory 2x1GB DDR2-667Mghz PC5400
Opticals: 2X Plextor PX-750A
HDDs: Maxtor 300 G DiamondMax 10 SATA2 + Maxtor 160 G DiamondMax 10 SATA2
Case: Sweex Prescott Galaxy with LCD Panel
PSU: Sweex Alimentation 650 Watt Gold Big Fan
CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS9500 AT

Another question I have is about PSU power and rails
On the Sweex website it says the following

Specifications

* Switched power supply
* 110/220 V switchable (220 V: 5 Amp/ 110V:10 Amp)
* + 3.3 V 28 Amp
* + 5 V 45 Amp
* + 12 V 25 Amp
* Max. 275 Watt
* -5 V 0.5 Amp
* -12 V 0.8 Amp
* - 5 Vsb 2 Amp PEAK 2.5
* Max. 650 Watt

will this be good enough?

What are you using it for? Mainly gaming? If so, then I would drop the CPU down a notch and bump the GPU up a notch. I love my 1900XT.

What kind of monitor do you have?

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

At that res you do not need a 1900Xt as I mentioned earlier. If you could bump to a 7900GT though (extra $100 I think) it would probably last you a little longer.

I will leave the PSU comments to those with more knowledge than myself.

If you realy want a Conroe get an E6300/E6400 and use that money towards a 7900 GT KO or x1900xt

and.... 15" LCD for gaming....
If you don't get you're friends monitor you best buy a new one... 19" LCDs cost $150-$200 if you buy from the right places at the right time

For a 17" or 19" screen the highest you should consider is a 7900GT or X1900XT.

Drop down to a 6400 and gigabyte P965 DS3 as well, it's about $100 cheaper and 95% as good for overclocking. You might need to reconsider the RAM choice, but you'll still come out ahead.

With that money saved get yourself a 7900GT or X1800XT and a decent PSU. You don't need more than 430W or so, but get a good brand name. Seasonic are my favourite, but enermax, silverstone, enhance and a whole load of other names (see threads on PSUs for complete listings) are just as good. Sadly the one you picked is junk.

One problem is that here in europe I can not find many brands of PSU. I previously was planing on a thermaltake but the store I could find it at went bankrupt. If you know an online store that ships to europe tell me

EDIT
I cant find any Gigabyte MBs either

Basicly the points gathered by me are

1) Get E6400
2) Get 7900GT
3) Get a beter LCD
4) Get a beter PSU

Other than that, am I ok?

I´d suggest bigger HDD and change them for Seagates (5years warranty.)

Where in Europe? I'm in the UK but other than komplett i don't think they ship internationally for the most part.

If you can find the DS3 then it'll save you a fair bit of cash, but otherwise yes your list is spot on.

I would get:

Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Dual E6400

would also look at a 7900GT instead of the 7600GT, 17" LCD (Samsung), definitely a better power supply.

Search for Maxtor on these boards and see if anything you read changes your mind on the drives you picked. I have no experience with them so I will not make a specific comment regarding quality/reliability, but I have been reading a lot of negative stuff recently.

Everything else looks great.

Are Maxtors bad, I've had good experiences with them, although it was a few years ago since last time I bought one

They had a really bad name for a while, but they're owned by seagate now and i think the bad times have passed. I wouldn't buy them because i go for low noise components and my old maxtor was the loudest thing in my computer by a mile.
