Ok I'm gona build myself a new AMD 1700+ system so far I have decided on the following parts

ENLIGHT EN-7237AZ MEDIUM TOWER W/340wamp ps
GeForce3 Ti 200
WESTERN DIGITAL WD600BB CAVIAR 60GB
LITE-ON LTR-16102B 16x10x40
Lite-On 16x DVD Model LTD-16301
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Xgamer
SAMSUNG 19"/18V SYNCMASTER 955DF
SONY 1.44MB 3.5 INCH INTERNAL FDD DRIVE (long live the floppy!) :D
plus the old linksys nics and assorted mice, keyboards, joysticks, and assorted juck....

Now, Motherboards...... I'm wondering is it better to have build in Raid or buy a card?
If built in which motherboard? Soyo Dragon plus, Asus kt266-E, MSI K2t266 pro2-RU, or the still unreleased Abit KR7A-Raid ?
If I'm gona get a Raid adaptor I'd get either the SHUTTLE AK31A , or the EPOX EP-8KHA+ Hmmm prolly the Epox But what Raid adaptor? The promise fasttrack? or what other one?
EDIT: what's the difference in between the Promise 100TX2 and the 100TX4? can't seem to understand Promise's website ...

As far as HD's I figure I'd get 4 of the WD's and put them on a Raid 0+1

Whatch think?

I personally would recommend the Shuttle AK31 with the IWill RAID Card. A lot of people like the Promise card as well.

Good Luck

Well, points for a clever bump.

I'm putting together a new system and am planning on using the mobo's IDE channels for CD/DVD. I ordered a iWill SAID RAID100 card (it's only $40) for my HDD. I'm only doing Raid 0 for the performance boost (I'm good about backups) - and the iWill card has the best rating/review here. I won't have it in and built for another couple of weeks, so can't tell you how well it works.

My vote for a motherboard would go to Shuttle. Mine is great, I've loved every minute I've had it. I'm not much on RAID so I can't help you there. Good luck!
