building new rig, need advice...

hi all.
i'm building a new rig and wanted to get your opinions. basic specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2 Ghz, 1MB L2) - should i get the 2.4ghz 512kb l2?
Asus K8N-E Deluxe (Nvidia NF3-250) -
Geil 1Gb (512x2) ultra x 2-2-2-5 -
wd sata 120gb 7200rpm wd1200jd
albatron 6800ultra
antec sonata case (does anyone have this case?)

well that's it

couple of things - i want this pc for general use, but i also play games. i'm not overclocking and i don't think i will so that's not an issue. the 939 is definetly too expensive so i'm going for 754.
one last question - the 939 is duel channel and the 754 is, well, not. should i get duel channel ram or just one 1024 module? will this affect performance?
thanx in advance!

ok...everything sounds really good. I have used the Sonata in some of my GHU systems and it's a good case.

My biggest piece of advise would be to wait right now. There is so much changing so fast right now that no matter what you do in a month or so something else will be out that will make you re think your current config.

I was about to re-build but with all the new tech I decided to just tweak my current rig and wait it out for a while.

If you are in dire needs of a new rig what you have suggested will get you far.

And there is not much diff between the single and dual channel. Maybe Nforce 4 (or whatever it will be called) will change that but that has yet to be seen.
