Hi there I am new to the forums and not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am looking for some help. I want to build a new gaming rig for about $1000. Here's some info on what I am looking for:

Approximate Purchase Date:
Preferably by mid January (unless there's a good reason to hold off a bit longer).

Budget Range:
1000-1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Gaming
Watching movies/TV
Surfing the net

Are you buying a monitor:
No I will be using my HP monitor for now

Parts to Upgrade:
Will be reusing my monitor/mouse/keyboard

Do you need to buy OS:
Yes Preferably win 7 as I don't have a lot of experience with win 8

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
Do not currently have any preferences but must note that I'm from Canada.

Location:
Vancouver, B.C , Canada

Overclocking:
Not Preferred as I have no experience with this

Your Monitor Resolution:
1920x1080

Additional Comments:
WoW currently gets the biggest use out of my PC, power wise. I need it to play smoothly as it currently struggles in many situations due to old hardware. Mostly play WoW and CS:GO but I would like to play some more of my games that require better graphics

Would like a min of 8GB of RAM (possibly 16).
Will be doing the SSD (for the OS and games)+HDD (for everything else) combo thing.
Will need decent cooling as I tend to play or have it running for long periods of time

My current PC is approx. 5 years old now and needs replacing to play current games comfortably at my newer monitor's resolution of 1920x1080. I would like to be able to play at the highest settings with the smoothest frame rate possible.

Any extra info needed, just ask.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

there should be an option ..AMD or INTEL amd will be cheaper
for games a quad core will be fine amd or intel..
the speed of cpu at least 3.8 ghz ..if you go intel then a quad core i5XXXX should be good it will prolly have 8 threads
but an amd quad core will only have 4 or a hex core having 6but as far as me designing you a system this is just something to think about while the guy`s over your side of the globe decide..

Take a look at this http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2192841 thread. It's a targeted $1k build. Fits all your requirements.

Based on what you listed you don't really NEED 16gb ram, but it's not much more if you do want it. (add about $80)
WOW isn't going to push this system at all.
If you want to put a lot of games on the SSD/boot drive I might suggest getting 500gb SSD as the prices are getting more reasonable.
You mentioned cooling. I think you will be fine with the stock cooling on the 4690k, unless you will be doing some serious overclocking. But if you do want more cooling for some reason, the Hyper 212 EVO for ~$30 is a good pick. Furthermore, if you won't be overclocking, you can save a little but getting the non-K version cpu.

Also, I like windows 8.1 just fine. The install is really quick. It's super snappy, boots insta quick. No reason in my opinion to stay with win 7 if you are buying new os.
