only things that should be missing is keybored/mouse/speakers/ and a OS so please let me know if i forgot something. i was skimming throw this http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/caseprep1.html "guide to building your first PC" and seen it used a 3.5in floppy drive to put some drivers on will i need a floppy drive to? sorry if it said it in there i was mostly just skimming thorw it....Thanks 🙂

Alright
Unless you want a room heater, do NOT go with a 5XX series processor. Go for a 6XX series, they run MUCH cooler (on par with AMD in some cases). I'm not sure why you went with a 6800GT and an Intel processor because clearly AMD is "t3h winn4r" for gaming - but that's up to you to decide. This thread will shortly be turned into a flamewar (it always happens lol).

Other than that, if you're sticking with intel I'm going to automatically assume you'll run into heat issues, so you might want a better heatsink or the thing will start throttling.

Where's your power supply? If you're using the one that came with the case... haha....once you build, you'll immediately come back here and say "PMFG MY COMPUER GOT FRIED!1111". I'd suggest an Antec 450W or something of the like, making sure you get a SmartPower/TruePower II series because you need ATX 2.0

Edit: And why 2 DVD burners? Useless.

well i got the P4 becuse ill be doing CAD stuff and more mltitasking than gaming whitch ive herd is way better for that kind of stuff. But still will be gaming so thats why i got the 6800gt, and about the 5xx and 6xx umm... er whats that? sorry still kinda new to dealing with hardware.

Oh ya and abotut he two dvd burners ill probly change that i was making this list last night and got tired and just decited to put two of them lol.

EDIT: is the powersupply that the case comes with rilly that bad?

Ehhh, Im not sure exastly right now but probly about 1500$ish i would like to stay about 1300 if possable.

It'd be ok for a budget computer but not for something nice with a P4 and a 6800GT. Just get an Antec, Enermax, Fortron, or Sparkle that is about 400 Watts.

500 series and 600 series.. i think the difference is 600 series come with 2MB L2 Cache (which many say won't make much difference).

you might want to check 640 out though. Pentium 4 640

Before I built my system one month ago, I was going with Pentium 4 640 until I was convinced to go with AMD since they are better for gaming and run much cooler!

When it comes to the AMD's whitch core is the best? is the San Diego any good? also will the 3700+ be able to keep up with the CAD drawlings?...sorry if my spelling isent so good im kinda tired

Basically, Pentium is couple of seconds faster at video encoding compare to AMD. At gaming, AMD kills pentium. Everything else, they are neck and neck. If you will be gaming a lot, I would get AMD because couple of fps will significantly enhance your game experience than losing couple of seconds in CAD stuff. The edge that Intel has in stuff like video editing will be far less apparent to you than the edge that AMD has in gaming.

Check this link out on Tom's Hardware. It has a really extensive CPU comparison to show you performance in a variety of applications.

Depends on your budget. Also, unless the application is design to exploit parallelism, it will still run only on one core. Probably in future, but not now.

3700+ is what I would recommend. Check out CPU/Processors forum. People there are really happy with its overclocking abilities (assuming you will overclock). You could overclock 3700+ to fx-55 speed for more than half the price. Its socket 939 (san diego) core.

I woudln't recommend any case/powersupply combo except Antec. Dude. Think with your mind 😛 - "A-Top XBLade" - does that even SOUND good to you? Sure, you can use whatever you want for a case. But that power supply ..... *damn* just won't cut it. Sorry, but it's reality. Also, most cases that come with power supplies (except the new Antec cases) have ATX power supplies, not ATX2.0. ATX 2.0 uses a 24-pin motherboard connector, but ATX uses a 20-pin connector. A reviewer for that case (on Newegg) said:

"I can't think of a bad thing to say about this case. The only issue we ran into was that it has a 20-pin power cable on it and my motherboard wanted 24. $6 later we were good to go. Highly recommend... More »"

Heh. So you just might want to watch out for that - it won't work with your motherboard. (Newer boards with PCIexpress graphics cards require ATX2.0 power supplies).
