Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, so... sorry if you're anoyed by my newbie question

I'm planning on building myself a PC and I was wondering what would be better on the long run.

I have decided to go AMD and I was thinking about getting an IWill KK266. However, it crossed my mind that it might be better on the long run to go DDR (MSI K7 Master?). Should i buy a SDR board or a DDR board ?

If you're building form scartch, definately go with DDR. It's really the best thing to do Imo. YOu might wan to hold off though and see how the new KT266 chips will do in July, they recieved a revision, should be good news, or so I hope, hmm, the Shuttleak31 did great and it only cost 102 DOllars at Mwave.com, it's a Steal, check out the review at Cluboc.net, Top performer, but if you want to go Amd760, look into yes, the K7 master, or even the lower Priced 8K7A, good choices either way. I'm looking into the KT266 though.

DDR, at Crucial you can get DDR for the same price as SDR, so there's really no reason not to. Just get a top 760 board like MSI K7 Master, or Abit's KG7 (I think that's it's name) should be good.

DDR is definitely the wave of the future and probably the way to go if building a new system right now.

A warning on the AMD 760 motherboards: if you are buying a board with more than 3 DDR slots (like the Abit KG7 or the Gigabyte 7DXR), you MUST use registered memory (more expensive) if you want to fill all three slots.

not much advantage today in ddr over sdr, but... with the prices being comparable its worth getting ddr. more of a future in it. not to mention future cpu's (athlon4) and future apps will require more memory bandwidth. and thats when the ddr will shine over sdr

I don't mean to be rude, but this pisses me off all the time. Please search forums before you post!!!! I have seen this question three times in the forums over the past couple of days. It isn't a big deal, don't worry about it, it's just annoying because this question has been answered many times.

Sorry, I would say go DDR.

Good luck with your new system!
