Hi guys,
I've always built my own PCs and in the past always had parts I could recycle, but since I moved to another country I had to get rid of all my hardware and currently only have a PC. So soon I'll be building from scratch. I want to build a PC in the June/July timeframe.
Currently looking at the 4790K with an Asus/Gigabyte mobo (mobo in the ~$200 range).
Now with all the talk about Skylake, I'm kind of worried about buying a Haswell when soon a whole new generation of processors and chipsets will come out. And also slightly worried about investing in DDR3 when with DDR4 soon going mainstream DDR3 is basically EOL. I usually don't get new core components until about every 5 years (unless my mobo breaks early which has happened once or twice) so perhaps not such a big deal.
Do you think I should wait a bit longer? And if so, when do you guys realistically (not optimistically, but realistically) think that Skylake will actually hit the market and be available for purchase?
Appreciate your input. Thanks!
