Well, I'm building a new machine, will the harddrive that I have in my current setup work flawlessly in my new setup? I mean, will all of the system drivers replace the old stuff? Or will some get replaced but some stay, and some errors? Has anyone tried this? Or should I simply format and reinstall windows on the new system?

Thanks

Your HDD will work in the new machine if you install the new drivers, but the old stuff will still be there and makes your system slow. It´s better to reinstall!

Please be more specific. What operating system? Win98? If so, I would use the "delete the Enum key in the registry" option. Here's a website that tells you how. Remember, this is for Win98/98SE/ME only:

How to Delete the Enum key in Registry

This will remove the old system settings from your registry (purists will tell you that it won't remove ALL of the settings scattered about the registry, but for all intents and purposes, this works just fine).

I am using 2000 pro. some people have told me that it should work. That it wont be necessary to remove old system drivers and that 2000 should pick up the new ones without problems nor keep the old ones.
