here are the parts ive chosen so far. i want to be able to get to 2.4 stable. Please provide feedback and/or alternatives on the parts i am choosing.

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm 5 S939 2.0GHz
MB - MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
FAN/HEATSINK - Thermalright XP-90 P4/K8 CPU Heatsink + Panaflo 92mm H1B
RAM - PDC Kit 1GB(512MB x 2) DDR PC-3200 w/ XBL Technology (how good is this stuff? seems like the cheapest ram for good oc'ing w/ good reviews)
HD - seagate 200gb (good price with the rebates going on)
CASE - Lian_Li_PC-6083(have already)
POWER - Enermax NoiseTaker 420W PSU (cheapest one i found from jpeyton's guide, - is there an alternative cheaper one that will do just as good a job?)
VID - geforce ti4200 for now... will upgrade later
OPTICAL DRIVE - NEC 3500A (what is fastest dvd-r media for this?)

I haven't oc'd before but I read about it in the OC forum. Hope it's not too difficult :)

Thanks guys this forum has provided alot of info :)

Looks solid. OCing is easy and that thermalright heatsink will make things easier on you. Read lots before you OC. There's tons of info out there. (Overclockers.com). Upgrade that vid card as soon as you get a chance if you are serious about gaming. It's getting a little long in the tooth; I know I have one. ;)

Edit: Don't skimp on the PSU. Going cheap on a PSU is like going cheap on the foundation of a house.
