you dont need registered RAM. save $40 by getting non-ECC RAM, and use the saved cash for an X800XL.

Get rid of the ECC RAM. Get the Crucial sticks Hacp linked to. Then bump up to a X800XL or a 6800GT. The 6800GT is an overall better card, so if it is around the same price it is a much better choice.

It is best to buy 2x 512MB sticks as you can run dual channel, which will help performance slightly. The only reason to go with a single 1GB stick is so you can easily add another later for a total of 2GB.

I would get the Crucial RAM posted above.

Now u cleared it up for me, the reason i was going 1 gig each stick I thought it was gonna be better performance, thanks for your time GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

2gb is better than 1gb if it will fit the budget.

And if your planning on overclocking I would recommend getting a beefier power supply. 450w watts or more.

Video card: a hot deal somewhere? I think ATI is offering refurbs now, so you can get one of those.
