Ok, i have been out of the hardware/gaming scene for about 3 years now. I have spent the last 2 weeks catching up on MB's, all the new PCIe stuff, etc. I have decided to go with the following, but can't decide on memory vause most reviews involve overclocking, and im not interested in overclocking.

I gonna do an AMD 64 platform
New gigabyte MB with SLI (K8NXP-SLI)
Silverstone case with heavy cooling
Nvida 6800 U card

Im building for gaming, and expandablity later on. i wanna just be able to add a thing here and there 2 yrs from now, and still have a decent machine. I gonna get the higher priced 8600 U because i figured in a yr or so, when im gonna want more power from video, i can buy another 6800U on the low low, and do SLI mode.

In terms of memory though, I dont know what to get, I dont wanna spend a fortune, and I want a Gig (2 512's) but I want good reliablity. Again, Iwont be overclocking, so i dont think any of the high end stuff wil lbe neccesary OR WILL IT? what you guys think

Also looking at Hard Drive ideas, what brands you guys reccomend for reliablity?
Same with Burners, i have had bad luck with burners over the years not lasting or not running wel lafter awile. I dont think i need DVD R and al lthat , just CDR, but reliable quality stuff.

Again im some what hardware savy, I have just been out of the scene for awhile. So any help would be awesome.

If you are not overclocking, Corsair Value Select 1gb kit will be good enough for the memory.
Seagate hard drives have a 5 yr warranty and i suggest you go with that.
For burners, try a Lite-On or an NEC, both are fine.

Ok one more question, Im running a none gmaing barebones (college style) comp right, now, got a celeron 2.6 in it.

I wanna do Athlon 64 ( from what Iread thats the way to go) but i dont wanna spend a fortune on a proccessor. im looking at the Athlon 64 3200+ (2.0GHz/Socket 939) do you think that would be good? I have no problem upgrading proccessors every 6-10 months cause the prices change and fall so fast, so id rather go cheaper anyway, what you guys think.

segates has 5 yr warranty? how do they compare speed wise to other HD's?
thanks for all the help

Hi Deptacon and Welcome to the Forums!

THIS is what you're looking for. Forget DDR2
