Hey guys,

here is the rundown. Epox 8k7a+ mobo, 2 256 sticks of crucial pc2100 ddr ram. When I booted it up the first time w/o any drives in, it was fine. I made some changes to the bios... now when I boot up the computer w/o any drives, just mobo and ram... my computer beeps. like BEEP..... BEEEP.....BEEP....BEEP..... and my motherboard gives a code C1 on it.
Anyone have any ideas??? Im pulling my hair out. Thanks in advance.

constant beep means RAM related problem.

one long beep and 2~3 short beep means video card related problem

Yes, it just keeps beeping. its not one long beep... it just repeats.

BEEP.... BEEEP....BEEP...BEEEP........... keeps going

I took out the ram and got an error E2. I tried all combinations, one stick in, in different slots .change which stick i used. im so lost.

How do I reset the cmos? Change the jumpers on the mobo?? I think I tried that, but the computer wasn't booting up at all. Is that supposed to happen??

calm down.
reset the BIOS. ( disconnect the power cord prior reset)
put only one stick in first. (make sure it sit in properly)

No need to take out the batery a jumper should reset it.

Don't you have a manual?

Calm down, sit back and read it.

I already did that. I put it on the CLEAR CMOS settings, and then it wouldn't boot up (which is what it should do Im expecting). So then I put it back to normal. Still getting error code C1, with the BEEP ... BEEP.... BEEP...... (continues).

When I build a computer this is what I do. I am sure it will very around here.

Put in CPU. Make sure its seated good and plug in fan.
Add 1 Sick of ram, harddrive, vid card, Floopy attach power supply

Make sure everything is pluged in and jumpered corectly.

Boot.

My guess is something isn't seated good.

Did you try moving your ram around to a different slot

I think I remember hearing that your ram needed to be closest to the cpu according to capacity. Its worth a try.

Put one drive in at a time, hd first then the rest of your drives later. Then you can find out which one is the problem. maybe you haven't setup the drives correctly as master and slave.

I tried all RAM combinations. I tried both sticks seperatley into each slot. Also, I have none of the drives in power or connected to anything. It's just mobo, cpu, ram. I even took out the video card, and that wasn't it.

your ram is dead.
exact same thing happened to me. the constant beeping means its a ram related problem, and the C1 on the motherboard means it froze while checking the ram. call crucial (or whoever), and explain what happened. they should confirm this, and have the memory replaced.
