building my sis a comp

trouble is i've never built a comp before. i think i got it pretty well set out, i'm using some components that were put on her system a while ago. like a 32x cdrw, and a zip drive, and the sort. I'm trying to keep this cheap. what i need help with, is deciding on a case and a power supply.

w/o further ado, here is the comp i'm thinking about.

My sister's Comp, maybe

intel 845BG 2.0 gig P4----------------------- 254.94
WD 40 GB HD w/ cache, 7200rpm--------- 64
256 mb DDR RAM------------------------------88.19
ATI Radeon 8500 LE --------------------------109.79
CDRW--------------------------------------------0
100 mb zip drive-------------------------------0
floppy drive-------------------------------------0

total----------------------------------------------516.92

the above is just incase the geocities site gets bandwidth raped 😉

sounds like a good system to me
alredy have monitor, sound? (unless using onboard sound, if the mobo has it)

any case, maybe take a trip to www.newegg.com, would be a good case with around a 350w psu (300w would suffice as well)

btw for those who dont notice, theres a backslash "/" at the end of the link which isnt supposed to be there

here

if u use the Nforce 2 and AMD Athlon XP combo, u can save more $ and get a better system. U may have to sacrifice the Rad 8500 thou but the GF4 MX is not bad either.

she has a monitor, dell, no sound though. i'll have to look into a regular soundblaster card. dont want her comp getting better than mine, now. that just wouldnt be fair.

EDIT: I doubt the one who's footing the bill (my father) wants to have an athlon. for some reason he dont like em. well, doesnt matter to me, saves me the worry of the thing burning up. besides, 250 for a processor, and a reasonable mobo seems like a pretty good deal to me anyway.
