Looking down the table

My table is going to look similar to this, without cup holders. The wood area will be white, with dark purple, almost black playing surface. Rail vinyl cover TBD. I got such a good deal on the fabric, I hope to find a similar deal on the vinyl. More pics to follow, I've stopped for the night since my downstairs neighbors came home. 🙁

UPDATE #1

Most of the cutting done! 😀
Birch plywood cut, center will have foam and felt.

Some basics about the table:

It measures 96"x42"
Will have a 3" padded rail around the edge
5" 'racetrack' area for drinks and chips. I can fit 3 stacks of chips front to back.
Playing surface is 80"x26"
Can sit 10 very comfortably.

More pics to follow, going to start the whitewashing tonight or tommorrow, got a lot of sanding to do first!

UPDATE #2
Outer ring whitewashed, starti...le.gif" border="0">
Inner piece hit with polyureth...er.gif" border="0">

Foam pad and felt goes on tomorrow, and I'll start coating the ring with polyurethane (Going to take a lot of coats!). Should be playable for my Thursday game (minus the rail). This will be way better than playing on a dining room table.

UPDATE #3
Center insert with mounting hardware
Center now covered with foam
">Bottom view, covered with foam and playing felt
Insert set on table
Now set in place

Now, on to the rail. This will be the part that I'm not looking forward to. I'm going to attempt a one piece rail, with no seams. which means one piece of vinyl, with lots of stretching and detail work. For now, I think I'll go have a few 's

Update #4
The rail is almost done! I've had less time to work on my table than I would have liked, but I'm getting there. My dreams of a seamless rail lok to be realistic, now to work on stretching the vinyl to eliminate wrinkles. Pics:

Rail on the table
Still need to pull the vinyl down around the table lip

Update #5 (Finally done)

Finished table, and it only took me 6 weeks!
Now on to the game tonight, 8 players, $40 buy in, no limit Hold 'Em. What do you all think of the finished product?

Edit : .NET upgrade fubared my previous links, I think they all work now.

Looks, great. I can't wait to see how it turns out. If it looks good, you might need to write up a tutorial for me 😉

wow that looks sweet. What about a green surface instead? or red? Also, can you invite me to your first game 🙂

danny~!

Can you tell us how much the materials cost so far?

2 sheets 3/4" Particle board - $22
1 sheet 1/4" Birch - $22
Fabric and foam for playing surface - $25
Various hardware items - $20
Vinyl for rail - yet to buy
About $100-$110 so far, can be done a lot cheaper without the wood "racetrack"

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. To answer some questions, yes, I'm using a standard 30"x72" folding table as the base. More pics will be added as I work on it. Here's one I just took, I wanted to see what the color combination would look like. What do you guys think? I didn't want to go with a standard color, wanted something a little unique. Plus when my buddies are over to play, they'll love the color (most of my friends are Ducks or Beavers, while I'm the lone Dawg  )

I just played poker at a casino for the first time last night, and what I want is one of those in-table card shufflers. That was just awesome!!!

UPDATE

Most of the cutting done! 😀
Birch plywood cut, center will have foam and felt.
With out center, the outer birch ring will be whitewashed. Reggie loves his new toy. 😛
Had to see what the felt was going to look like. So far, I'm happy! 😀

wow, at first I was thinking "so what", but that's starting to look like a pretty good idea!

Wow, very nice.

I need to build a domino table (us domincans play dominoes).. plus I don't know howto play poker.

Nice. 😀

I've already collected about $15 in donations and $30 in free beer from hosting these games, it's great. Aside from the $60 that I'm up just from playing our weekly game, I'll be break even on this table in another month. 😀
