D0es any 1 know a wholesaler of barebone laptops. somthing where i can Choose my processor, HDD, RAM, OS, or drives: DVD, CD-RW, COMBO that are easy to upgrade

I'm pretty sure Dell will allow you to choose all the peripherals you would like. However, I don't know how upgradeable their laptops are.

i want this so i can resell them and make some $$$. I am tired of selling laptops for other people and making them money. ie dell/compaq/ibm. I think its time for the MOM and POP stores to get in on it themselves.

I understand. Actually, I am kind of interested in the answer to your question myself. I am thinking of putting together a laptop for college. I like building my own systems. I would like to build my own laptop too.

Try www.ithinkcomputersinc.com
I purchased a mobile Duron from them for my Sony Laptop, I also am looking at getting a DVD/CDRW combo drive from them. They are one of the few places I have found that I could by single lot mobile procs. I am an AMD Channel Partner and they wanted me to buy at least 100 mobile Durons! The problem is getting a qaulity mobo/shell/screen to build off of.

If you become a IPD (Intel Product dealer) they give you links to some ODMs to buy barebones or ready to go systems

Austn,

Just wondering if the site you gave is correct, or if you mistyped.

I am also looking at building a laptop from scratch, and am wondering if anyone knows of anywhere I can buy mobile perphilals(sp?) such as cases, MOBOs, etc. and/or tutorials on how to.

Thanks,

Gump

asus had a program to do that for resellers, i am not sure what happened. i would like to see a standardized laptop formfactor so that building laptops from scratch would easier
