Building my own DCC workstation

I have always wanted to work in computer animation for quite a while now. Now that I have plenty of ideas for short films, I am planning to build my own digital content creation workstation. Using Newegg and ZipZoomFly for the computer parts, here is what I've come up with:

If you look at it this way, this is 4x the power than what my computer is now (AMD Athlon 1.3GHz, 512MB RAM, GeForce4 MX 440 128MB). What do you guys think?

Looks good but why 2 drives? I disagree on the thermaltake. Get the Zalman7000AlCu LED for $33. It's quieter and probably cools better

AAAAAAAAAAAAH EDIT!!!
That ASPIRE POWER SUPPLY will KILL (fry, overvolt, etc) your system! Get the Antec Smartpower 450W instead.

if you're really trying to build a workstation for that price, I'd go AGP and a 6800 GT you can mod to a quadro 4000 (bios flash, see guru3d's rivatuner forum for details). a 256 6600 is a waste.

killl the dvd rom, you already have the burner, also just get one drive and partition it. and get a better PS

while 2GB will help, 1 GB is probably more appropriate for that budget.

Well, I think this is it - the final build for my DCC workstation. The main drive (80GB) will only have the operating system and programs (games too; this is one of the reasons why I want to get a DVD-ROM drive). The other one (250GB) will hold all my data. Here is the configuration:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor - OEM - $188.00

What do you think?

I still think you've got too much cash in "extras" and not enough in the core system. HDs and rom drives you can add later if you really need them. go for the best bang for your buck on the core and get the extras later.

for what you want I think that = quality 939 agp board + a 6800GT, dual boot on one large partitioned drive. 3 partitions:

1: OS + games, 6800GT as a 6800
2: OS + max/maya/ whatever, 6800 GT as a quadro
3: storage and data.
