building my own copmuter or a non brand name

Hi people,

I am a professional multimedia designer, and I want to upgrade my system which is a Dell P2 400Mhz.

After doing some research, I concluded that the best and cheapest way will be to buy a non brand name or build it your self type of computer. I don't know what is a good mother board and if a DDR ram will better then SDRAM 133.

anyhow, if you people know of a dependable place on the web that I can configure my own system and that it wont be trash, please post the web site link.

Well I would be biased, but look at link in sig (Matrox vid card + firewire cards coming soon ).


Also reliable (to be fair ):

Mwave puts together stuff you buy for like 40, no real expert setup though.
Alienware makes computer gaming systems with funky colors
pcnut is a nice guy and could do it, but limited choices.
