Building my first rig

As the description says, I have a few small problems which I would need some help figuring out. If anyone can answer even one or two I'd be very happy.

1. I had planned on getting an AMD 64 4400+ x2. Assuming I choose not to overclock anything, if I have two SLI 7800 GTX 256's, would they be held back by the processor? What I'm basically getting at is, should I consider the 4800?

2. I plan to primarily use the rig for gaming, would getting a dual core Operton instead of the 64 x2 be innapropriate? Since this is the first computer I'm building myself, are Opterons harder to mount on the motherboard or install than a 64 would be? I'm mainly asking this because I was under the impression that Opterons are more like server/workstation CPUs and 64s are more mainstream.

3. Although I don't plan to overclock, I wouldn't mind having the ability to do so in the future if I change my mind. Does the 4400 and 4800 leave some space for this or should I definitely go for the Opteron?

4. I was planning to get a Raptor but recently read about SATA II's and optimized 7200's with higher density. I guess what I'm asking is, what is the best for ensuring that I can use the rest of my equipment to its highest potential? Should I stick with the raptor or are there other models which I should consider?

5. I really want to get a Lian-Li case, specifically something from the V-1000 series but I'd consider others. I also really want to get the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo. I've heard there's a problem with cooling when you use this combination, because the mobo uses heatpipes and the chassis holds the mobo upside down. I'm more sold on the case than I am on the mobo, so I'd be willing to change motherboard, but which one would boast similar quality/features and not have the cooling issue that it would have in the V-1000?

6. What is the gem brand of motherboards? DFI? Or is that just for overclocking? I'm looking for something with high quality, performance and reliability. It also needs to be able to handle the stuff mentioned above.

7. Many say Lian-Li is the gem of cases, like PCP&C is to PSUs. Are there any other case brands which people would say are as good or better? Is Lian-Li a bad choice for a gaming rig, and if so why?
