I'm planning on taking a shot at building my first PC. Wish me luck, but I do need some help
I?m planning on getting the MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard when it finally makes it to retail (I hate waiting), and am getting the AMD64 3500 processor.
Now my question is regarding the memory, what would you suggest I get for this system?
I'm looking at 1GB of CORSAIR XMS DDR PC-3200 since it has low timings 2-2-2-5. But I don't know if I would be better off with memory with something like PC-4400 and higher timings. I'm just a confused over this whole memory thing. I'm not planning on OC'ing my PC, but who knows what I will do in the future. Money is not that big of an issue, but I didn't want to spend more than $400 on the memory.
I still have to decide on a Video card, I'd be willing to spend ~450 on that, but I guess that?s a whole other topic.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated..

Thanks.

because the memory controller is on the cpu spending the extra cash on low timing memory isnt worth it(maybe if you were getting a p4), imho. you can get 2 gigs of samsung at newegg for around 400 bucks which, i think, is a better buy then just one gig at ultrafast timings.

for a video card get a 6800GT from BFG(or pny, or evga, or etc.etc.), should run around 450, and is the only logical choice because your getting an nforce chipset.

btw heres mechbgons pc building guide http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/index.html
